MISSION STATEMENT
To provide opportunities for all Grays Harbor citizens through sports and activities

PROJECTS

Mr. T’s started as an idea between Roger Jump, the beloved mayor of Hoquiam and Theodore
and Elizabeth Bruener, two members of the Grays Harbor community. These individuals spent countless volunteer hours developing programs and opportunities for the youth of Grays Harbor.
One of their focuses was on Hoquiam Youth Baseball.
Through the donations by Ted and Liz, a hitting facility was constructed in 1998 on the City of Hoquiam’s property located at 87 28th Street in very close proximity to the historic Olympic Stadium. It was constructed in memory of Theodore and Elizabeth’s son, Theodore Bruener, Jr. It was created in
partnership with Hoquiam Babe Ruth, Inc. as a fundraiser for the Babe Ruth baseball program.
It had run through the Hoquiam Babe Ruth program up until 2012 or 2013 when it closed due to needing repairs. It sat vacant until the GHSA was formed in 2020 when repairs to the office, batting machines, and net were started. The GHSA is currently raising funds to get it up and running. Thanks to some generous donors and the Grays Harbor Community Foundation, a matching grant was awarded to GHSA in December of 2021.
Now, the committee is working on getting a quote and replacing the net surrounding the batting cages, making each batting machine operational, and purchasing the equipment required (bats, balls, batting helmets) to open Mr. T’s Bat-O-Rama. Our projected opening date is March 2022, just in time for opening day of the Cal Ripken, Little League, and Babe Ruth programs in Grays Harbor.

United AAU Basketball:
The Grays Harbor Sports Association AAU Club was created in the summer of 2021. By creating this Amateur Athletic Association club, the GHSA was able to provide club basketball programs for 5th-8th grade boys and girls. The Hoquiam School District has been a key partner in this project.
